All-on-X is a full-arch implant system that uses four to six titanium implants to support a complete row of upper or lower teeth. The “X” refers to the number of implants used, which is determined by your jaw anatomy and treatment plan. Whether four, five, or six implants are placed, the goal is the same: a fixed, natural-looking set of teeth that does not shift, slip, or require removal. Who Is a Candidate for All-on-X?

All-on-X is designed for patients who are missing most or all of their teeth, or whose remaining teeth are failing and cannot be saved. It is also a strong option for current denture wearers who want a fixed, permanent alternative.

Low bone volume does not automatically disqualify you. Bone grafting procedures can rebuild the foundation needed for successful implant placement before or during your surgery, depending on your specific anatomy.

The All-on-X Dental Implant Procedure

Your process starts with a full clinical evaluation and a 3D cone beam CT scan so we can assess your bone structure and map out every implant position in advance. This planning phase is not a formality. Precise placement directly affects integration and long-term results, and we take it seriously.

The Day of Your Surgery

Implants are placed into the jaw while you are sedated. IV sedation is available for patients who prefer to be fully relaxed throughout the procedure. We typically attach a temporary arch of teeth that same day, so most patients leave our Tega Cay office with functional teeth. Teeth-in-a-day is a closely related option that uses the same same-day restoration approach.

After Your Implants Are Placed

Over the following months, the implants bond with the jawbone through a natural process called osseointegration. Once healing is confirmed, your temporary arch is replaced with a permanent, custom-fabricated set of teeth. Research published on the National Institutes of Health’s PubMed database found a cumulative implant survival rate of 97.4% in patients treated with full-arch implant protocols after a mean follow-up of nine years.
